Who’s Wyatt?

Wyatt is a Swiss Army knife (or a Leatherman. Yeah, let’s go with Leatherman). He has co-founded a handful of start-up companies, and advised many others.

He’s currently the Biz Dev Manager at Valice, so if you need webby web stuff done, he can help.

Previously, he founded Boise Classic Movies, Colonial Classic Movies, Crowded Theatre, Ignite Boise, Boise Beer & Blog, Pronetos, Open Access Press, and Kanso. Some of those are more mentionable than others, but if you were wondering, “Is he the guy who did ___,” yeah, that was him.

He’s worked as a business developer for a tech start-up, boosting its customer base five-fold; as a grant administrator in a premier cancer research center; as a competitive intelligence researcher for a big fancy multinational firm; as a counselor in a residential juvenile correction facility; and as a bulk inventory accountant at an oil company (hey, we all had a first job).

Some good people think he’s a lawyer. He is not.

He’s thinking a lot about death observances lately; seriously, when is the last time you attended a funeral you would describe as ‘satisfying’? And Portuguese wine. That stuff is suuuuper underrated and inexplicably hard to get over here.

He has a BA in philosophy, an MBA in innovation management, and a certificate in craft beverage management (go figure). He gardens. He cooks. He bakes. He makes shrubs. He takes photos. He has raised chickens. He once kept bees. He’s directed the nation’s oldest homebrewing club. He lived on Madeira for 4 months (the island, not the wine…although). He reads Tolkien. He plays RPGs. He wears Docs. He would probably like you.

Here’s my Ignite Boise 2 talk, “The Juice of the Barley.”

Back in 2010 (I think?), I gave an Ignite talk on some of the more basic virtues of beer. Oh beer. I forgot to mention that Guinness has fewer calories than skim milk. But hey, it’s an Ignite talk; you’ve gotta keep moving!
